Burgundy, Navy + Gold Wedding | Iowa City, Iowa | Wedding Photographer
Let me tell you how much I love Friday weddings. I LOVE THEM! Nick and Holly’s wedding at the Iowa House Hotel in Iowa City was gorgeous. It had been raining all morning. Since it was supposed to be an outdoor wedding in front of the river, we were all a little nervous. And of course, we wanted outdoor group photos too. Although we got a drizzled on during the outdoor photos, the whole wedding party was amazing and we were able to get some amazing shots.
Holly had some really special, sentimental details that she brought for their big day. Her grandfather’s hanky that she had embroidered, a tie clip she had engraved for her husband-to-be with their daughter’s handwriting saying “I love you Daddy” and as a sweet custom-designed necklace she gifted to their daughter as they exchanged vows at the ceremony.
We began our day with detail shots as the girls went down to eat some breakfast before the festivities began. There were so many gorgeous details to capture.
We captured some photos of the girls and guys getting ready and we headed down to the little chapel for Holly and Nick’s first look. We used this quiet time to take in the moments and capture some photos of the two of them.
After rounding up the wedding party, we trekked over to the Old Capitol building for some epic photos!
After some family photos and lots of praying, Holly and Nick got to exchange vows outdoors, without any rain, in front of the river.
And as always, we end the night capturing hilarious speeches, tearful first dances and wacky dance moves… and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
